I was 10 years old, back in 1972 when this song came out.
I remember riding my bike down the street, listening to my portable transistor radio to this song.
It still sounds great today,so enjoy!

I remember hearing this story back when it first occurred, a survivor talks about how the song "The Mary Ellen Carter" ran through his mind after he was shipwrecked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT-aEcPgkuA

Stan Rogers himself died in an airplane accident. Some damn smoker tossed a cigarette into the airplane toilet, the plane caught on fire. Stan went back into the smoke-filled plane after an emergency landing to help get others out of the aircraft and died of smoke inhalation.

This is probably one of the most controversial songs ever produced. It was the most expensive video ever made at the time. When it was first being developed, the technology wasn't available yet to produce it. It still remains a hit even though the writer/singer is long dead. This is probably one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time (and I'm a doo-wop fan). Ladies and Gentlemen, Bohemian Rhapsody

My taste is kind of eclectic in music, I like a lot of different stuff. I was a DJ Orchard Radio, an internet only radio station at Washtenaw Community College for almost 5 years. My show was THEOLDMAN's Radio Show, I played music by themes...that is if I felt like playing songs about trains; then I would put together my show with train songs of all genres.

To pick a favorite is kind of hard...

The WUNH DJ switched the station on as I was driving to my train this morning; after the pre-recorded FCC message she didn't say a thing, just played "Rock & Roll", "She's So Vicious" and on till I ran out of signal during "Walk on the Wild Side". I shed a few tears as I drove.
