Phewwww, I finally got these pictures on the Railroad Line Forums!!!! It is good feeling. This is a On30 mini layout that is 29"X 45" in size. I got in to making this to try some completely different techniques from my usual HO logging layout. I picked Haiti and its Sugar trains from the 15 years of medical missionary work I have done with these great folks. I love the warm weather and the beautiful colors and wanted incorporate both elements in my modelling. I hope you have like the pictures. Dr Tom

Dr Tom-
Great little trains! I like your weathering of corrugated metal and concrete/stucco.
Thanks for sticking with it and successfully posting these photos of your modeling.

Dr. Tom, Welcome to the forum, some very nice pictures you posted, keep them coming. Can we get a shot of the track plan from above? With the hockey puck aviator are you a hockey player as well?

Hi Guys, I am glad you like the pictues. I had posted pics of my HO logging layout on this great site about 1-1.5 years ago, but appears my brain had difficulty remembering how to upload. But I think I have got it now!!! Here is a picture from the satelite (Google earth?) which shows the track plan. As you can see my previous pictures the finished structures are about 1/4 of the total layout. The structures are in Port au Prince Haiti and on the other side of the mountain is the rural Leogane area where the sugar fields will be. Dr Tom PS Big Lars I picked the Avatar because it looked like a bewidered guy wandering through life. Thought it was a fun little guy. No, I do not play or follow Hockey although I hear from time to time that our local Nashville Predators do pretty good!!!

Hi, Here is the "real deal" in Haiti. It is a backwoods (back jungle?) sugar cane distillery. You can see where the inspiration for all the rusted corrugated metal comes from. I was offered a drink from the owner of this facility but I politely declined. Dr Tom

Hi Here is a frontal shot of my HASCO (Haitian American Sugar Company) Mill and some of the structures in Port au Prince. The corrugated metal is made from aluminum foil pressed on a styrene template with corrugations and then cut to scale 4'X8',4'X6' and 4'X4' sheets and glued to cardstock with good ole Walthers Goo. The concrete and block structures( basic to Haiti and the Caribbean) are made from foam core board and covered with spackling compound, then painted and weathered. Part of the fun of this modelling is the beautiful vibrant Caribbean colors and the aging and weathering (see prototype photo above) of everything in Haiti. Dr Tom
