A little more progress starting with the hole in the wall that will lead to phase 4:

The little specks in the last pic are dairy cows. In real life the Southern goes past (back then) a dairy farm and that field needs to be that or corn or tobacco to be what is seen around here circa 1960's.

Mooooving along. Was there any milk type service on the Murphy Branch? Like cans of milk in the baggage car or something? You could have a little wistle stop platform at the dairy farm.

Nope no dairy rail service that I know of Jon. Even if there was I'm not going to put in any more industry sidings big or small as this layout is supposed to depict a small branch line and a even smaller short line.

Well it wouldn't require a siding just a platform along the mainline but if it doesn't fit the layout it doesn't fit.

To be honest I don't know of any RR's that had those kind of milk pick-ups/set-outs in the southeast and I try to avoid modeling the things that never were or were very unusual as it can turn the RR into the "it goes anywhere and does anything for a buck" RR. That being said if someone likes that kind of a model RR that's fine for them but not for what I'm trying to do Jon.

Looks like you will have this scene done in record time. What kind of diaphragm set up do you have on that train?
