I haven't heard much news about this subject in the mags recently. Aleast I haven't.

What is the current status of the industry. Last I heard some of the rebuilders had shutdown. I know CIT just started up, but what about HELM, PACRAIL, GLMG partners, etc.....

Hi Jerry
I do not know about all the leasing companies but I do know that each summer the Alaska Railroad uses leased power because of the increase in number of passenger trains to transport all the people who are vacationing in Alaska.
Here is a photo of 2 of the 3 leased locomotives in Seattle waiting for a barge to be transported to Whittier Alaska for service in 2003.
I also know that the 3 are now in service in Alaska as the photo was taken in early June.
Of the three 2 were from HLCX and 1 was from LLPX
