Hello. I originally started this build as part of another thread.

http://railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53025

I've now decided to separate the builds, to stop confusion. The basic hulls are the same, so above link will tell you how I did those.
But this one has a round stern, so done a bit different. So here's a recap, before I progress.

Nice coloring and weathering on the winch, Rob. Ship looks great.

Rob, Very impressive...The fishing boat looks real. Could be a support boat to use in a Jaws movie!

The gallows are in place. Got an anchor winch made. Also the deck bollards.

(The hauling winch is not fixed in place yet)

Now just have to make a couple of otter boards to hang off the gallows.

Thanks Mike Thayer, Bryan & Carl.
Still slow going. But that's just me.
Every time I think I'm just about done, I find some other small details I need to add.
And I tend to overthink things.

Looking good Rob.

You are doing a fine job with this

Rob, your vessel is looking great. Don't hold back on the weathering. The marine environment is incredibly corrosive, and the margins razor thin.

Nice build Rob.

Thanks Horton. Glad if I've inspired you to try a boat model. They are a lot of fun, and up to you how detailed you wish to make it. You'll get plenty of good advice on this forum.

Thanks for that Frank. I remember that diagram on one of your trawler builds. I also found this pic from that thread which is very clear. page 41

I don't know if this helps or hurts.

Ship is really looking nice, Rob. Appreciate you sharing your build. I finally decided to jump in the ring, but with an HO scale kit. Have some filling to do on the hull in places. Your inspiration is at fault here, so If I can just hang in there and not get too flustered, I might see it through. Thanks for what you are doing here.

Horton M. - still a novice at most things...

I've added some scuppers (drain holes) on the side. Just styrene tube.
And added a couple of hand rails up the front, just as some added detail. Used very stiff wire, (bent round a tube), so it holds the curve shape of the bow.

And the rigging is finally done. Sure is fiddly.

And I've weathered all the detail parts I made, gallows etc, so can now start adding those. Getting close to finishing now.
robert goslin Posted - 11/24/2020 : 03:38:04 AM
Thanks Phil. I'm really enjoying your boat build also.
thanks for the advice, but I'm now just going to go with 2 gallows, on the one side of the boat.

So have made up some detail parts for the mast, a couple of pulleys, and the 2 gallows.
All made of styrene.

Carrie Creek Posted - 11/20/2020 : 05:27:31 AM
Rob, I would suggest you do some sketches. Start with the mast and one boom. Figure out what is needed to raise and stay the boom in position. Then duplicate on the other side. Start a new page with what is needed to deploy the nets on one side then add the other side. The rigging for the booms are rigged first then the net operating lines are rigged.

Yes, pulleys (called blocks) where ever the lines make corners. The blocks are labeled by the number of sheaves and how arranged.
