i decided i would attempt to scratchbuild an o scale version of the idaho hotel.
i put together a mockup of it to get a sense of the size. it's big. 17 1/2" by 7 7/16".

Well done Kevin! I admired the original Idaho hotel and was going to build one in 1:29 scale but decided it was too large! Yours is a credit to the original...nice work!

Kevin well done. Great to see this structure finished, and to such a high level of quality. Really impressed.

thanks bob. yes it does feel good to say it's done, but as you will see in the pic below, i forgot to install the fascia boards on the end gable. i'll get to it this week.

it's finished. i took care of the last of the small stuff. it's done.
and here's one with the stairs to the walkway.
i also added a 2 step stair to the rear door and staircase up to the second floor door in the rear.

i finished the stone foundation walls and glued them to the structure. then i redid a part of the framing and 48 planks on the front walkway, and finally, the ridge cap.
this pic only shows the foundation wall in the rear (still needs a shot or two of i/a) and the bar mills hinkle's package store. norton's is sitting on top of a frame i made out of 1/2"x1/2" stock to fill its space when i start covering the base with sculptamold i think the road hinkles is on is gonna be an incline.

when the weather breaks hopefully i'll have alot of the base done and can take it outside for natural light shots.
thanks, i hope so.
perserverance or just plain stubbornness. either way... it got me here.
