A tribute build to outstanding contributor and good friend to this forum, Mr Robert Santos, (AKA) SgtBob'.. Master Modeler

While in the US Air Force, Bob owned a 1954 Mercury, sea foam green. Just happens the exact car is available in a 1:43 die cast model.

So, I couldn't help it, and had to build this diorama in tribute to Bob, for all the help that he has provided and tips shared on this forum helping many in achieving better modeling skills. Thanks Bob, this one is for you'..

My first car was a '49 De Soto club coup, Robin's Egg Blue. What a tank of a car!! I loved it!!

Galen, Don't feel too bad'. My first was a 59 Plymouth, 4dr sedan, In 1969 you could buy a car on a lot similar to this model for $200.00 Bucks. The Plymouth was a faded out lT blue.. I painted it jet black with a brush. 18 months later, when I went into the service, my folks sold it to an older gentleman for $ 100.00. 3 years later that Plymouth was still running. Every now and then I would see it around town...

Ted - what a terrific diorama and nice tribute. I caught the Daredevil references.

What does it say that my first car was my parents old '70 Volvo? You fellas had such great first cars. Mine was Turkey-turd yellow, stick shift, and a heater but no air other than the hand crank windows. Even so, I loved it.

Thank you very much Louis'...I did spend more time on this build that I normally do. And I appreciate receiving your very kind words and acknowledgement.

Thanks for checking in, Karl; Fred; Greg; George; Mike; Pete; Bill; Rick; Dave and Jim'. Bob, it was my pleasure making this model in your honor, and you are very welcome'.

Yes Frank, you can't beat those two tone paint jobs of that era. The 55 Ford was a good seller, and a very decent car. My oldest brother had 56 Crown Vicky with a Continental kit
in ivory. Was quite an eye catcher.

Ted Terrific, well done. You're bringing back memories. My first car was a 1955 Ford 2-door hardtop Victoria. Just like this one. Same color and all.

Ted,

The billboard, chain link fence, cars, people and the clutter tie everything together beautifully!!

FANTASTIC BUILD and a WONDERFUL IDEA to honor Bob. sgtbob has contributed so much to our hobby and deserves all the tributes we can give!

The storyline is great!

The building looks good. What did you use for the brick and block?

Especially love the billboard...Bill is surely our master of GIMP! Nice work Bill.
