Bob, your snow looks very convincing.

My next step in doing the "snow" was to sprinkle and glue down some fine white
flakes. This evens out any irregularities in the plaster coat and gives it a little texture

It's kind of hard to see in these photos but maybe this close-up shows it a bit better.

There will be one more step later.

Bob,
Good reasoning for not including icicles although they do look neat in a winter scene.
sgtbob Posted - 02/19/2020 : 09:45:52 AM
Dave, I love to do icicles but this structure is cold both inside and out. Unless we get a sunny
day to melt some snow I don't think there will be any icicles.

Frank, Dave, and Mike, thanks for your comments.

There will be several more steps to this "snow job". And even then I will only take it so far
and then I will have to make a tree and then I will do another snow job over the entire dio.

Bob, your snow has just the right lumpiness. I like the bits that hang over the front edge.

Great roof for allowing icicles to form!
Spring house is looking good!!
Frank Palmer Posted - 02/19/2020 : 09:08:50 AM
Bob, I've got less than snow on my roof at this time too.

Nice stonework and snow job. Don't forget some on the window ledges.
sgtbob Posted - 02/19/2020 : 06:03:15 AM
The first application of "snow" is just a coat of plaster.

more to come

Very quaint and "cool".
George D Posted - 02/18/2020 : 1:03:50 PM
Very nice stonework, Bob. You've done a good job of showing the potential of balsa foam.

Well... I guess spring hasn't sprung yet for this soon to be covered in snow spring house.

I agree, Bob. No since modeling what can't be seen. Looking good!!
sgtbob Posted - 02/18/2020 : 08:59:10 AM
I took a piece of 1/32 basswood sheet and embossed some random grooves moving with the
grain. Then I sliced it into one shingle width strips and the cut the strips into individual shingles.

These were applied along all edges and stained with an alcohol-ink mixture. Great
looking shingle job isn't it??

Wait, something's wrong.

well, since the roof will be covered with snow it seemed a waste of time and material
to do more that what edges might show.

Greg, Mike, Ray, Bruce, and Bill, Thanks for checking in and commenting.

Bill, it was the stone that retained the cool but I guess facing south would be a good idea too.
