Still scavenging for salvage.

The break area.

And the salvaged salvage sign.

Terrell Posted - 12/07/2019 : 11:57:39 AM
The gate is in.

Oops, just noticed the sign.

I also found this casting I had forgotten I had, so I did some excavating.

It's an HO Gondola load but I'll eventually add other junk to hide the more obvious tell-tale signs of it's origin.

Thanks, Rich !!

Excellent start on the base for this build. Looking great!

Thanks, Bill and Bernd!!

Carl, the fence is just vinyl window screen painted aluminum and cut diagonally. The posts are wood dowels that I carved the pointy things at the top in with a needle file or two.

Thanks, Frank and Mike !!
Michael Hohn Posted - 12/04/2019 : 10:05:11 PM
Thatís a most realistic fence. And the building is well planted. Very nice all around.

Looking good Fred. Oh yeah, the junk for the yard. Fun Time.
Carl B Posted - 12/04/2019 : 2:58:10 PM
What materials did you use for the chain link fence Fred?

Thanks.
Bernd Posted - 12/04/2019 : 1:56:47 PM
Ya, what Bill said. I like they way the building looks like it's sitting in the ground not on it.

Bernd

Looks good!
Terrell Posted - 12/04/2019 : 11:23:10 AM
The basic ground cover is down, I don't think there will be much grass. And I've added fencing. I originally thought I would go around all three sides with the chain link but rather than shortening up the yard that much I thought I'd leave to the imagination that the yard extends much further into the foreground.

Obviously I still need to come up with a gate.

And I've been working on gathering more "salvage".

That's not necessarily it's final placement, it was just posing for the photoshoot.

Ted, thank you for like it enough to ask.

That is very clever Fred'.. I like using the cork for roads also since you informed me about it. I'll have to try this method out, as I really like the look.... Thanks Fred'..
Terrell Posted - 12/01/2019 : 6:35:40 PM
Thanks, Bob !!

Ted, the driveways are made from some really thin sheet cork with a self-adhesive backing, that I bought by accident a while back. It was thinner than I thought. But it works great for this. What I do is cut it to the dimensions I want. Then paint it and weather it before applying it to the scene. When I'm ready to do that I tear it into pieces and then fit them back together, sort of like puzzle pieces.
