Our last thread of introductions grew to a whopping 100 pages. I guess itís time to start a new thread.

Mike C provided the original guidance for this thread which works pretty well.

It's really great getting to know one another. If you're a new member (or even an old one who never replied to the original thread), please take a few moments and introduce yourself to us here.

1) Where do you live?
2) How long have you been a model railroader, and how did you get started in the hobby?
3) Do you model a prototype railroad or freelance your layout?
4) Do you model a certain era and/or geographic region?
5) How large is your layout and what scale do you model?
6) What's your favorite part of the hobby? And what do you enjoy least?
7) How do you control your trains (DC, DCC, or something else)?
8) Tell us anything else about yourself you'd like us to know.
9) Post your picture - if you dare.

If you want to see how others answered the questions, the last thread is here: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8297&whichpage=1

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will probably have more questions than answers!. In fact I am posting a question in a moment. Better put it on the correct thread!

Welcome aboard, James. It sounds like you're a hard core narrow gauger. You're going to find a lot of On30 activity here. Join in and let us know what you're doing.

Hi I am James from Barnsley, South Yorkshire in the UK.
I have been on and off (Mainly off to be honest) modelling American Narrow Gauge for 40 years. I was captivated by the likes of John Olson and Malcolm Furlow (Contentious I know) when I saw them in Model Railroader and Gary Nash and Mic Greenberg which I first found in a 1979 copy of the NG&SLG . I have made a cople of FineScale Minatures models and helped a little on building a version of Chama at the Wakefield Railway Modeller Club. But that was all a long time ago.

Lately I have discovered Troels Kirk on this site and also discovered Sierra West Scale Models and I am now itching to try On30. Only something small but hopefully high quality. If it's not brilliant I won't be happy.

Thanks for all the welcomes. The flying monkee note seemed to generate some responses. It gives me an operational opportunity for a few LCL drops of Monkey Chow at this business.

Welcome, George. The flying monkeys would be just right for Dirigible Wash employees.

Welcome aboard, George! Do the monkeys fly the dirigibles?

Enjoy the ride!

Hello all,

I'm George from Harrisburg, PA, and I've been on and off with model trains since my "HO by Lionel" days in the early 60s. I got interested in HO craftsman structure kits back in the 1980s and have been pretty seriously modeling since then.

I freelance in HO, modeling a small line that serves some coastal towns, including a seaside resort in the 1930s to early 40s.

My HO layout is a stretched out "Z" six feet at it's widest point, and about 14 feet long. I have a mixture of DC and DCS, plus whatever that Lionel Polar Express system is. That might be a clue to everyone that electronics and wiring is my least favorite bit of the hobby--otherwise I would have it all converted to one system by now.

I have an odd sense of humor, so weird things frequently make it onto my layout--including a dirigible landing platform and flying monkeys. So it goes.

Hello names Phil, i live in New York, NW of NYC. I'm not really new here, saying that I've not been a member for a very long time (long story that only a few know). I've recently started working on my new logging layout. My first project will be finishing my basement. I've put up the studs, insulated and will soon start drywall (only 40 sheets:( ) then I work on drop ceiling.
I have a hugh number of structures built, some that I completed myself others from old friends. I also have a number of completed sections from last layout that I want to incorporate into my new layout. Final space for this layout is 40 ft x 24 ft. Around the wall with a number of peninsulas. This will be my 5th layout now and most likely my last. Looking forward to catching up on the forum. Thanks

I live in Oakland NJ. Started my first HO layout in the early 50s using Truscale road bed and brass track. Left the hobby until 1989. I am an HO scale free lance modeler. My layout is a short line with a north eastern feel. I model 1947 with light to medium steam. My roster is 2-8-0,2-8-2, 4-6-0. My favorite part of the hobby is building scenery and scratch built or heavily kit bashed structures. I am not heavy on prototype operations. I enjoy a laid back railroad, watching nice small trains roll through nice plausable scenery with occasional switching duties. I operate on NCE system.
The railroad is the Ramapo Central and is about 95% complete with scenery.

Welcome aboard, William. It sounds like the bug bit you. Have fun with the layout.
