I'm not quite sure where this is going to take me.

I've tried countless times ( That in NO way is an exaggeration.)to draw out a track plan.

I just can't. I won't ask for help, although I see some members very generously offering their assistance to other forum members.

I just feel I would be wasting their time. ( I know how I am.) LOL

I hate to plan.

But.....I love to build!

I have a few thousand dollars worth of HOn3 brass shays and HO scale Kits which I am very fond of and one I am still on the hunt for. ( If anyone has a Skinners row kit they would not mind parting with I'm all ears!)LOL

Anyway. While my eyesight allows I would like to put them together and have a place to run them.

I do have ideas on what scenes I want on the layout but as I said...plans....not good!

I'll pretty much build modules of those scenes and spread them out and connect them with scenery modules. I guess that IS a plan, sorta kinda.

In Mike Chambers craftsman corner forum I built my Coon Gap sawmill.

That will be the point of interest on the first module I am building for this shelf layout, the mill area.

So far I am seeing the mill, log unloading and some storage tracks for loaded and empty skeletons and disconnects.

The module frames will be a base size of 8' x 16", with bump outs where I feel they will be needed.

That's what I went with right out of the gate on the first one.

From there I built a log dump.
It's sort of a shortened version of the one offered by BTS.

No I'm not dead.

This is a video I found of the donkey engine I used as a guide when building the frame of the donkey engine in this thread.

After a long hiatus and rethinking a few things, I will be back to work on the Frostbite Falls lumber Co this time using shadowbox modules.

If your into logging and want to lose an hour or two check this out.

And with new photo host.
Die Photobucket die!

Yeah i think the weisman kit will do the trick with out to much trouble.
I went to my LHS on Wednesday to buy some brass tube and make myself some of those water tanks you built!

Ill have to stop following this topic as my to do list is getting larger! hmmm time to build a sawmill

Oh look at this!

Picking on the poor guy in Cheese Bay Wisconsin as he thaws out.

When the prophet Al Gore's predictions come to fruition, and Jersey and Florida are under water, you can re-locate up here by me on my Ocean front property in Green Bay.

( I think the frostbite just may have gotten into my brain this year. )

I've had LOTS of opportunities for overtime at work lately due to two retirements and anothers decision to explore the greener grass that always grows on the other side.

Speaking of green grass I'm starting to see it here, so that also means spring yard work as well,so my spare time has taken a pretty big hit... at least shoveling snow is no longer a concern for a while!

Have been told there are new hires on the way so hopefully things will return to near normal soon and I can get back to the fun stuff.

Hi Adrian,

That is from an HO KMP Willamette Loader Steam Donkey kit.

These things came in all sizes.

Small ones like you see from Bachmann trains where the boiler is barely taller than the man, to really large ones that they built the sleds for on site.

The KMP boiler is 2 times wider than that Bachmann model and twice as tall.

I have one of Wisemans O scale Dolbeer kits.

The boiler in that is the same size as the KMP HO scale boiler but the stack is a little narrower.

Judging by this the kits are pretty close to the same size.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

BTW, great job on the Benson shay paint.

Got another question to fire at you Dave.

Firstly though the lighting look great!

Is your log un loader here build from an O scale or Ho scale Donkey Engine. I tried to find it digging back through the topic.

Its had my crative juices flowing for a while now this unloader you built. I have an old Weisman O scale donkey i built from this kit. http://www.locopainter.com/store/product.php?id=115 Its been sitting with no use in a box. Im thinking i might be able to down scale a few bits and attempt a build like yours

Now we're talking.

Beautiful model Dave. I wish I had space to fit something like that in my layout room!
Dave D Posted - 04/19/2015 : 8:39:04 PM
Well I got the cut floor lit like I wanted.

Now I need to make a goose neck lamp for over the door down near where the supervisor is hanging out and I also want to add one inside the loading shed above the tracks.

I see I didn't set my roof properly....

I'd better get him a log to cut soon.

A light pole back here and on the side near the trestle would be nice too.

Dave, you sure have been busy'..It is a real shame today with a large majority of the work
population. Seems the work ethic of of our era has vanished....And it's never good to put the same horse in every race. And companies just don't seem to care either.

That is a fantastic looking model Dave. I really like the white shades in the windows'...
Good luck with all your projects. The imagineering will come together eventually...

Nice looking Hutches Landing. Absolutly, wiring made simple is the way I roll.
