Gentlemen (and Ladies),
I believe it is time. Time to do something powerful and magical, and once in a lifetime. It is time to save the last Raritan River Railroad Freight Station!
I have been contacted by a Councilman from Milltown who is looking for a plan. Looking for money. Milltown’s mayor and a few businesses greatly support the idea, and now need some ideas.
So how does one save a railroad station? How does a group or a club mount such a campaign? Others have done it, other stations have been saved and converted into residences and businesses, right?
I think its time to get off our buts and put our models and pictures away for a while and start the biggest challenge of our lives! Maybe the Raritan River Historical Society can be dusted off and have a home after all?
I will be in contact with Milltown next week, and will get more details on what they know and want to do up to this point. Fund raisers and volunteers will be on the top of an endless list of things we would need to make this happen.
A call to action for all of us. Its time to save something that can never be replaced, before its too late!

Wayne, send me an email at Tom_E_Reynolds@Yahoo.com, and we can talk about our plans for the future Raritan River Branch of the NRHS.
Once we speak, I will add you to the list!

This coming weekend the town of Milltown will be having their Milltown Day celebration at the Boro Park on Violet Terrace and JFK. The date is set for October 2nd, 9am - 4pm.
We will be there in cooperation with the Milltown Historical Society, and plan on sharing a table with them.
If you are interested in helping move and restore the Milltown Freight Station, please stop by. You can sign up for information and get an updated status on our plans. There will be maps and old photos, as well as a lot of collaboration on what our next steps will be!

Checking in after a long MIA. Add my name to the list of (potential) RRRRHS members! Tuesdays are NG for me, though, as far as week night gatherings, (mid-week church is my priority).

No one ever told me where the meeting is tonight.

Sorry I vanished for awhile. I went on two trips and then moved back into Rutgers and let this site fall to the wayside.
Good to see this is making progress. I could come to the meeting on the 21st, although I lack transport. I can ask around for friends who may wish to attend also or if someone lives near Piscataway and wouldnt mind driving me to the meeting. I dont want to be a burden though!

The next Milltown Historical Society meeting will be Tuesday September 21 at 6:30pm. We are invited to discuss the status of the Milltown Freight Station.
I plan to go, who else can commit?

Just got back from vacation so I'm still catching up. The Allaire weekend looks good to me, keep the agenda posted.

I have a "Pool Party" to go to on the 11th. Thats why I can't commit to that date, and it needs to be the 12th for me. Lets all try for the 12th and see if we can make it work.
