Posted - 02/21/2021 : 7:17:41 PM Thanks, Bob. I think I'm making the right decision.
Carl, that's a sheet of blue foamcore I bought at Walmart several years ago strictly to use as a back drop.
Thanks, George.

What is that "easy on the eyes" dark blue background? Is that a wall in your shop? |

Posted - 02/21/2021 : 3:18:21 PM Fred, looks good to me. There are lots of old churches like that around here and it looks like you are heading in the right direction.

I debated for a while on whether or not to detail the rear. But I went with it.

And as you can see I've started on the roof.
I had fully planned on leaving the top of the tower open and add a bell. Good and good sized bells are hard to find. I had one I'd planned on using but when I got to looking at it I felt it was just too big. I did find one (in a pack of 72} that was a good size. But in thinking about it, and researching more, it seems the open tower is atypical. So I'm closing it in, with sound slats, more typical.

Chuck, glad you like the house.
Yeah, Frank, I think I'm mega'd out for a while. |

Posted - 02/17/2021 : 09:40:17 AM I must confess this will make a terrific little build. Sort of a respite from you last few mega builds. |

Posted - 02/16/2021 : 1:37:54 PM Looks like a very cool project. I see some nice, modest country churches as I drive around West Virginia and intend to model one some day.

No, Carl, no real prototype, just a montage of a lot of country churches. I'm trying to keep it fairly simple. |

Posted - 02/15/2021 : 2:31:31 PM I've started a new project that has nothing to do with the Holt house or the White house, at least not directly. It will be a small southern country church.
Made following my usual MO, foamcore, cardstock and a dollop of basswood.

The center piece is the front wall of the bell tower/front foyer. The two "wings" are the side walls to the tower.
And I've cut out the two side walls.

I think it won't be long before I need a new cutting mat. That one's starting to show signs of wear and tear.

At first glance I thought it was a real house. That's one beautiful looking model diorama.
