If you are running small locos, such as Porters, small KAs take up little space. I use KAs in my small locos and it has worked out very well. I have a friend with a very large On30 RR, and he is all Dead Rail. He has from 8 to 15 operators at many of his sessions, and we all enjoy the reliability of the Battery power, radio control. But, my friend has the chore of charging all the batteries before his ops sessions!

Looking great Dave. You can never have to many trees. The only problem I have run into is trying to clean the track. I'm going to have to get track cleaning car. Maybe dead rail is the way to go.

i do have questions for you guys.....
being i am changing all my locos to small steam or critters

i did some checking on dead rail,
is it worth it?
does anyone here run it?

it seems like a great way to run a tight turn layout, but i find little info,
i dont know which way would be easier, keep alives or getting rid of most of the electronics
and going back to a layout with little wiring

gonna keep looking into this but was hopeing for more info than what i am finding,

i seen it on tulsa's layout for the old west and thought it would be cool to have on the layout.......
doesnt mean anyone is gonna be seen hanging.....
except for maybe deer or elk

its gonna get placed in a different area of my layout down the road when the scene gets finished,
as i am placing different items in different areas to keep people guessing as to what will be scene in the pic that they didnt see the first time

Dave,

Ive been wondering where youd gone; nice seeing you post some updates.

I like the way the trees dwarf the railroad running through the forest. Regarding the second group of photos I think youre planning an appropriate recognition; the car has a lot of character. The gallows are perhaps a little grim but I will assume it symbolizes your intention to hang around with us more.

Excellent craftsmanship and creativity.

this is a bag of goodies i got from Foley Car Shops as i have been a great buyer of his products he has made over the last few year.

i am in he process of selling off all my rolling stock that is longer than 18' and making room for my shorty car fleet that i am putting together due to my limited space on my around the wall 8x8 layout

now i am just waiting for the arrival of the logos for the transfer caboose, this build will be in honor of geezer

lemkerailroad1 Posted - 04/01/2020 : 6:53:31 PM
well its been a little bit but i have been getting motivated in the build room for the layout, heres a little progress of some of the things i have done
